Size guide

Vintage sizing is not standardised. A UK 5 from one decade and one maker can fit quite differently from another, so the insole measurement on each listing is the most reliable guide — more so than the size stamped inside the shoe.

Measuring your foot

  1. 1. Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall.
  2. 2. Mark the tip of your longest toe, then measure from the wall to the mark.
  3. 3. Measure both feet in the evening, when feet are at their largest, and use the longer one.
  4. 4. Compare that number to the insole length in the listing, allowing about 0.5 cm of room.
